Rainbow Eggs Rule!

These rainbow eggs are the result of my experimentation on writing a pattern for a "nicely shaped" egg. I think they turned out egg-cellent! :)

The Beginning of an Amazing Journey

Looking blue but happy ... the key that unlocked my future as a crafter.

This happy little fellow was my very first attempt at making a crochet toy, or Amigurumi as it is called in Japanese. I spent a full two days or so trying to figure out how to read the abbreviations and learn the basics like how to do a Magic Circle etc. When I finally completed it, I was beyond myself in elation.

Looking at it now, some two years later, I can see that the stitches were a mess and the counts are non-existent and it looks nothing like what it's suppose to in the free pattern I tried to follow. The most obvious thing I noticed about it now is that it is in fact inside out ... haha. Nevertheless, I think the little blue creature thing still turned out looking cute in its own bizarre little way.

But I'm glad that I decided to give crochet a try (even though I had to teach myself from scratch ... thank goodness for Google and Youtube!). I've made all sorts of cute stuff since and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.

I've recently learned to FINALLY read and understand crochet diagrams (Yippee!). I've made a set of six coasters and a doily from reading diagrams so far. Yay me! And I've recently learned to WRITE DOWN my pattern as I go along and not wait till the stuff is completed and then try to crack my noggin trying to remember what I did at what row (yeah ... I'm just slow in figuring that kind of stuff out).

There are so many amazing pattern writers out there already. My ultimate goal is to some day be able to join their ranks ... *dream mode on*.
